Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at OFFICE@POWERSTROKEMAGIC.COM if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Usually not. We regret this, but while your truck is not here, others are dropping their trucks off and waiting to be seen. We understand completely that no one likes to wait on repairs for a vehicle that is heavily depended upon. However, demand is high due to the skill, reputation and relationships built by our company over the years. It is not uncommon for as many as 10 trucks to be dropped off on a Monday. The majority of what we do is first come, first serve. Mixed in are smaller, quick jobs that help keep the business flowing. It can be very difficult to keep appointments when each job is different. However, all this being said, just give us a call. Our service manager, Mike, will listen to your concerns and see what our current schedule allows. He is skilled at maximizing workflow when possible.

Yes. We can do oil changes, fuel filter changes & air filter changes while you wait - no appointment necessary. If you're needing transmission, coolant, or differential services, please ask. It may or may not be possible to do those services along with your oil change depending on the day or time. Give us a call before you come in and check with our service manager, Mike. He'll let you know what the schedule allows for.

Yes, stop by any time M-F 7-6. Please note that his lunch break varies with the day's work, so feel free to call ahead.

This Q&A is dedicated to one of our 1 star reviewers, Buford Briggs. We average about 80-100 calls a day. Mike is our service manager and he sells every job after it is diagnosed. He does this primarily by phone. Many repair jobs have options that need to be discussed as each vehicle is different. If your call is missed, it is possible that Mike is on the phone or there are customers being tended to in the office. Believe it or not, he has built strong relationships with many of our customers and enjoys time speaking with them when they are here. Alternatively, he might be giving a truck a final test drive before it's released to ensure the quality of the repair. He also takes a lunch break every day as well. Please leave a message as it is much easier to return your call that way. His voicemails go to his email, but please feel free to email separately as well. Mike@powerstrokemagic.com. After Buford's cold-hard one star review for allegedly missing a call, and allegedly not returning a voicemail that we couldn’t locate in our recordings (we record all calls to keep thorough records of what is/is not approved), we hired a new member to our team, Fredrick. He is awesome. He is just like our voicemail system (that we feel Buford declined to use) in that he will also take a message for Mike so Mike can return your call, but is a live person. Fred has been here just over a year and we have been blessed to have his help. So for that,  thank you Buford! However, please know, there will still (What!) be times that we will miss a call (Sometimes Mike AND Fred are on the phone at the same time!) If a missed call would enrage you to the point of leaving a one star review, please know you are not our target customer and we would probably not be a good fit for you.

We are an incredibly small business which is extremely high in volume. Garrett, the owner, knows every vehicle personally. Mike, the service manager, knows every vehicle's owner personally. Garrett and Mike work hand in hand to orchestrate operations from drop off to pick up. Having the service manager dedicated to calls helped us to have very few miscommunications over the years. Due to several months of "busier than normal" activity, we recently hired an additional employee that assists with calls on heavy-call days and to help when Mike is at lunch or out of the office. You may have read about him earlier. His name is Fred.

As time goes on and these trucks get hundreds of miles older by the day, it is getting difficult to commit to working on the old body-style diesels. The best chance for you receiving repairs at our facility is if your vehicle is a year model '99 or newer. We realize this will be upsetting to people with year models older than ‘99. If your truck is older, we can evaluate it’s condition and let you know if what you’re needing would be something we were interested in tackling. However, please know, that the majority of these trucks have been hacked to death by multiple people over the span of 3 decades. In the time it takes to properly address one of these trucks, we could move out several '99 + models in it's place. At the end of the day, we are a for-profit business. We have bills and families and only so much space in the parking lot. Please know that if you see an old body-style truck on our property, it is either a decoration, or it has been well maintained and is pulling it’s own weight around the parking lot. It’s not personal. We do regret that we can’t help everyone, but we can’t help everyone. We are not a "project truck" shop.

We average about 2-3 weeks for diagnosis but in some cases, it could be longer. Wait time is not something we can guarantee. We are an extremely high volume, small business. Following diagnosis, a new time frame estimate for the approved repairs would be provided. Please keep in mind: the current state of affairs. Parts go in and out of stock and on back order at local, state and national levels. We do our best to navigate these speed bumps, but sometimes the situation is out of our control.

No, we only work on Ford Power Stroke Diesel trucks.

No. We only work on Ford Power Stroke Diesel engines. Garrett & TJ are completely capable, however our current work load doesn't allow for it. Perhaps one day when we find the right asset to our team.

PSM is implementing a Storage Policy in order to help operate as efficiently as possible which in turn will help our customers have a better experience.

At times, our lot fills up with multiple trucks that have been diagnosed but are waiting to be approved. This can slow our workflow. We spend a lot of time shuffling trucks around our lot in order to gain access for trucks that are ready and waiting to be worked on, and more frequently, a much needed stall is unavailable because an individual has approved teardown, but has taken a lengthy amount of time deciding on what route to take with the vehicle. (This is completely understandable, at times this can be a big decision, yet our lot is only so big.)

Once your truck is diagnosed and you are notified of the recommendations, you will have 2 weeks from that date to approve the job before our storage policy will go in to affect. If you’re not ready or unable to approve the work recommended, we understand. Our vehicle diagnosis charge is $65 and you are more than welcome pay for diagnosis and bring the truck back when you’re ready, at which time the $65 diagnosis charge will be credited to your bill for those previously recommended repairs. If you approved motor tear-down for inspection, which is $750, but do not want to proceed with repairs, we can put everything back together, for an additional $750 labor, or if you provide containers, we can pack everything in a container and place it in the bed of the vehicle so your vehicle can be towed out.

Failure to go with either of the two options listed above will result in a storage fee of $25/day. We will allow a storage period of two weeks at $25/day. After that time (4 weeks after diagnosis for those still following along), we will have your vehicle towed to a third party storage lot. At that point you will be responsible for the charges with PSM, PLUS what the storage lot will charge you. It will be extremely expensive. We regret this, but we are not a storage lot.

If you bring your truck back for the previously recommended repairs, please understand that you will have lost your place in line but we will do our very best to get your truck worked back into the schedule as soon as possible. This would be depending on the jobs we had going on at that specific time.

We are reasonable people. If you need extra time, you also have the option of providing a down payment to secure your spot. Give Mike a call, let him know your situation, and he will see if we can come to arrangements that would be beneficial for everyone.

Key take aways:

- Decision period after diagnosis: 2 weeks

- Storage Fee: $25 per day

- Storage Fee Accrual Period: 2 Weeks, then vehicle will be towed to third party facility at vehicle owner’s expense.
